Take care of your neighbors. Your annoying neighbor increases your risk of depression and anxiety
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Living next to abusive neighbors raises the risk of mental illness, according to a recent scientific study conducted by Danish researchers.
According to the Daily Mail, the study found that living next to noisy neighbors and their high voice increases the risk of mental illness and increases the chances of suffering from stress.
Experts found the rates of depression were twice as high among homeowners living next to neighbors as neighbors. Research suggests that conflicts between neighbors and some can lead to serious mental health problems for thousands of people.
To confirm the results of the study, the University of Southern Denmark, Copenhagen, spent three years studying more than 7,000 residents, most of them living in high-rise apartments, questioning them at levels of noise and mental health.
The researchers found that those who said they had abusive neighbors were more likely to be depressed and anxious at about two and a half times and about three times as likely to have high levels of stress.
Late night parties and loud music were the most common types of discomfort, especially for people living in popular areas, and noise from construction was also a major catalyst, the researchers said.
The results of the study were recently published in the European Journal of Public Health.Take care of your neighbors. Your annoying neighbor increases your risk of depression and anxiety
